Arbitration
San Francisco Arbitration Attorney
People use alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods such as arbitration and mediation because they not only are private and confidential, but they can be more cost-effective and efficient than traditional litigation. They also allow for greater creativity with regard to problem solving. The focus is on conflict resolution rather than on opposition.
Creativity is an important element of ADR, and our clients benefit from our complementary practice areas that allow for creative, efficient problem solving. For instance, real estate, family law, and estate planning all deal in the valuation, trade, and exchange of assets to resolve ownership interests. Arbitration involves a neutral third party rendering a binding decision after reviewing evidence and hearing the claims of disputing parties. This is different than in mediation, in which the mediator only facilitates negotiations without rendering a binding decision.
Attorney Richard M. Bryan has served as an arbitrator, mediator, Special Master, and referee in family law, probate litigation, construction, real estate, and business litigation. He and attorney Caroline Hinshaw act as counsel for parties undergoing ADR, mediation, and arbitration.
